Style File: Bringing the Outdoors in With Vogue Living
Natasha Allen is the talented Creative Director behind Vogue Living. Boasting an impressive creative career, Natasha is no stranger to styling inspiring interior spaces that make the home feel incredibly special.
The recent months have proven the importance of our living spaces. This shift to a more indoor lifestyle has created a collective sense of nostalgia for moments spent beyond our four walls. To spark some magic back into the home, Natasha shows us how to bring the outdoors in, and add a little luxury to your dining experience.
“I love entertaining at home, it’s a great way to just really enjoy your friends' company. The table is that moment of the dinner party that will wow your guests, it’s an inviting piece, a way to express yourself. When it comes to setting a table, less is more. White really makes food shine. Use white-on-white and incorporate natural fibres where you can.”
“Keep it simple, keep it beautiful, it’s about having quality over quantity.”
Use your key pieces to incorporate organic textures including timber, cotton and glass. The Cani trays featured in this setting are crafted using timber sourced from responsibly managed forests. To create an elegant balance on your table, contrast the natural wood tones with bright white cotton details. The Brae Napery seen here has been spun and woven in Portugal from beautifully soft cotton. Marry up the surrounding space with your table’s natural palette by integrating pots, planters and greenery. The Cesa storage baskets are individually handwoven with natural seagrass—a unique statement piece for any room.
“Bowls are really on trend right now, what I love about them is they’re so versatile and modern. If you prefer a more traditional look, keep your flat plates and elevate them with glassware and cutlery. The Talo and Alto glassware collections are individually mouth-blown and the Tapas stoneware used in this setting has been individually hand-glazed.”
Time for the finishing touches...
“Always add greenery to your table, even something as simple as fresh foliage. We’ve taken the ivy from the garden and run it down the table, which complements the natural textured look. You can trawl your own backyard and find vines, flowers, seeds and pods—they just make the perfect addition to a beautiful place setting.”
“I don't think your friends want to come over and see you stressed, so once your table is set and dinner is sorted, kick back with a glass of wine and wait for your guests to arrive. Enjoy your next dinner party!”
